WATSONTOWN — Pete Aiken, 58, of 324 Fairmont Drive, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born Nov. 5, 1952, in Lewes, Del., a son of the late James Levi and Theresa (Broeders) Aiken. He and his wife of 37 years, the former Susan Hendrickson, were married Jan. 27, 1973. A graduate of Kennett High School, he spent 15 years working as a land surveyor for George Regester Jr. & Sons, Kennett Square. In 1976, he went to work for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, where he became a wildlife conservation officer and land management supervisor. Pete was extremely fond of his hunting dogs, whom he affectionately referred to as his “kids,” and was a member of NAVHDA. He enjoyed bird hunting, dog training and annual trips to North Dakota with his “kids,” Sam, Buddy and Maggie. Pete also was a huge football and baseball sports fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Philip B. Aiken, of Muncy; two daughters, Erica M. Aiken and Rachel E. Aiken, both of Watsontown; one brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Carol Aiken, of Chadds Ford; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” and Carl Slaughter, of Wilmington, Del., Mary “Beck” Dolbow, of Alexandria, Va., and Joan and Pat Przywara, of Kennett Square. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eighth Street Drive, Watsontown, where a memorial service will be held at noon with his pastor, the Rev. Douglas M. Eberly officiating. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eighth Street Drive, Watsontown, PA 17777. The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
